I think that is a fantastic idea. Not only will it Educate your children, but it will give them an appreciation that other kids don’t have, and it will show them Christmas isnt just about gift giving. Kudos to you on wanting to enlighten your kids, not enough parents do that now a days.

If it doesn’t settle down…I say we stick with the “Screw it, we’re going to BC!” plan. Might as well throw caution to the wind at this point. We haven’t had much luck with plans, so maybe doing whatever the hell we want with no real thought might work for us…You never know.

to add to that…the representative from the women’s shelter says that those statistics are in relation to the women that seek help and sanctuary at the shelter…I don’t think its a fair statistic since she doesn’t quote any information on the number of people that watch or engage in porn that are NOT abused or in abusive relationships.

yes, what is happening to those women is disgusting and needs to be stopped, but that doesn’t show that it is Pornography as a whole that causes the abuse. Abuse is perpetrated by people, not movies or magazines, and as I pointed out on another forum…Abuse has been around since the dawn of man. It was a problem long before movies, and magazines were invented, so I do not think that it is fair to blame pornography in general for the misguided people that cannot control their violent tendancies.

I find it disappointing that the people in charge of the venue backed out of their obligations based on the opinions of a select group of people and not the community as a whole. They should have gone ahead with their contract, and then if desired, deny them the ability to book this event in the future.
